April 23 – Campground Hopping

I’m not too particular when it comes to campgrounds. I expect to be closer to my neighbors that I prefer to be and realize there’s a possibility that we could be next to loud obnoxious people. That wasn’t the case at Wall Doxey State Park, nope, just a warning on the bulletin board about water contamination and a washing machine that was filled up with water and wouldn’t drain. Well, let’s find another site, shall we hun?

Sorry site, we enjoyed the solitude, but maybe there’s a reason at this place.

April 20 – Hot Springs to quiet lake

We had done all the touristy things yesterday, but as the kids were getting sworn in by the park ranger, she asked them if they were coming back for Jr. Ranger day, where they could get a special badge for completing a scavenger hunt. Well, we’re suckers for Jr. Ranger swag and have the rest of the year ahead of us, so we stayed another night (which meant we spent some more time with our friends at camp) and headed back to Fordyce to pick up our marching orders.

April 11-14 – Empower2Make

I was blessed to have the opportunity to fly to Virginia and take part in a weekend make event where 5 teams each took on a challenge to develop a solution for a person living with a disability. The projects ranged from a column of shelves the swivel out to enable a young wheelchair user to access more of his things to an active muscle sensor that can vibrate muscles that are tense when they shouldn’t be (this is for therapeutic treatment to enable a young lady to make progress in her therapy sessions and provides feedback to her therapists).

The teams got together and started working on their projects before the opening presentation, motivated makers.
