We woke up next to Aubrey Davis Park on Mercer Island, a bridge drive away from Downtown Seattle. We found ourselves across the street from multi-million dollar homes and people walking their dogs right behind our back windows.
We put our beds away, had breakfast and then did our first road-schooling of the new year. After the kids pumped their brain muscles, we got out the scooters and a soccer ball and hit the grassy fields for some recreation. Jen walked the path with Amelia on the scooter while Henry and I kicked the ball around. 10 minutes later, a panting Amelia came back up the path to inform us that they found a playground! 🙂 Henry and I followed our leader down the path where the kids played on the playground and we then had a family feud on the pitch. It ended as a tie and we all walked the long way back to the van where the kids got into their carseats while Molly did her business and then we set off for our next destination (the coast).
We pulled off for a bathroom break and restocked our pantry/fridge in Tacoma Washington. After stocking up we headed to the nearest park to eat lunch. It was Charlotte’s Blueberry Park which is an awesome green space with a couple community gardens and a huge blueberry patch which made for a great game of hide and seek and some fun photos.
We started up the engine, clicked in the carseats, and were on the road again heading for the coast. We drove into the dusk and pulled into The Ocean Shores resort and casino along with a huge wind and rain storm. We registered with the hotel (RV spots are free in the off season) and took advantage of their bathrooms. Then we drove out towards the RV spots with wind howling and rocking the van. We picked our spot and did our evening routines falling to sleep while being rocked by the wind.
