We woke up to a blue sky and the sound of waves crashing on the beach outside our door. We put up the beds and went out to the beach for a little exploring. The kids loved running in the low tide water and we got some great photos. After knocking the sand off our shoes and putting our jackets in the van, we headed back into the resorts entrance (holding our breathe through the smokiness) and checked out the menu for their restaurant. I saw clam chowder and my mind was made (though I ended up getting fish and chips with chowder on the side). Better than the food was the view (windows wrap 3 sides of the restaurant overlooking the beach).
After lunch, we loaded back up in the van and drove down the coast pulling into Long Beach early in the afternoon. Jen walked into the “Kite Museum” to see if the kids would enjoy it, she came back out saying no one was there…. but that it wouldn’t hold the kids interest, so we drove down the road and parked alongside a quite road with woods next to us and the beach a short walk away. We all walked to the beach where Henry did some “journaling” though I thought he was drawing pictures of the waves 🙂 and Amelia built a sand castle. Molly Jen and I stood waiting for the kids to tire or get cold, which we apparently do first sometimes. After the beach we trolled back to the van for our evening routines and slept beside the rustling trees with the salty ocean air around us.
